One thing that every dog must do is come when called. This is for the dogs own good as well as the welfare of other pets and people. Dogs need to be taught this for their own good because they can run into danger, like a car or an untrained animal. Once a dog is trained to come when called, you can take him out in public places.

It is not hard training for dogs to learn how to come when called. Basically, you would give your dog special treats when it listens to you. Training should be enjoyable for both you and your pet.

Before you start this type of dog teach training, make sure the animal is going to react positively to the type of food you will give him. Show the food to the dog and let him smell it. If he likes it, you can start.

Use small size food when dog pet training. You do not want to feed the animal too much where he does not get motivated to want to more food. Chicken and cheese are good to use.

Many professional dog trainers want the dog owner to work with them when they train the dog. This is because the dog must not only listen to one person. They need to understand that anyone who is in charge of them, will need them to listen. If someone in your family member wants to watch the dog, he will have a problem if your pet only listens to you. Have a friend or family member call the dog and then you do the same. Have your dog go back and forth, going from you to your friend. This is a great exercise. Stand about 30 feet away from each other in a safe place. You can call the dog and tell it to sit. Your friend can call the dog after you and then he can give the dog the treat. Every time the dog comes, give him a treat.

Try spreading out farther and farther away from each other. The dog will eventually have to look for you. It must find you to get the food. This will teach your dog how to come when called.

If your dog is running rings around you and you are feeling like a fool standing in the middle of a park calling ‘Come here boy’ to no avail, you may need to consider a remote trainer. A remote trainer, otherwise called a remote dog training collar, is a clever device that consists of a collar and a small remote control that you can use from a distance. This simple idea allows you to train your dog from a distance, without the need to put it on a leash.

The dog wears the remote trainer collar in the same way as it wears a normal collar, you should remove the normal collar so there is nothing else to get in the way. The collar contains a small box with two small electrodes that must make contact with your dogs skin, through his coat. If your dog’s hair is unusually long, you might need to use your scissors to trim it a bit in order to make sure that there’s contact.

The remote control that comes with the collar will allow you to make the collar give different levels of correction to the dog in the form of static shocks in order to call its attention during training.

How to Start Training

Training should commence as normal with the remote trainer. For instance, if you teach your dog with sit with the word “sit,” you might want to use the collar to give a correction when the dog doesn’t obey to the word.

Once your dog has gotten the hang of the excercise, then it’s time to try the collar and the remote but without the leash. At first, the lowest level of correction has to be used, however, since some dogs can’t even feel it, you might need to increase the level during the training.

Remote trainers can also be used for proximity training when you need to ensure that your dog isn’t straying too far from you, and can be a vital aid in ensuring that he reliably returns when called. In addition, the leash will become a thing of the past when you walk your dog.

Labrador puppy training starts from birth.  Labs are prone to certain health problems such as hip dysplasia.  So the best and safest way to obtain a puppy is from a reputable breeder. 

Some breeders are inept and therefore feed their dogs a poor diet.

It is very important to socialize your dog from a very early age.  By socializing him early, he’ll feel at ease around other people.  Lab puppies adapt extremely well to change, especially when exposed early in life to other people and events. 

Labs are eager to please so they make excellent students in obedience training class.  The earlier you begin Labrador puppy training, the better off your dog will be.  This does not mean that if you get an older Lab, he won’t learn, he certainly will. 

What Do Dogs Respond To

Postive reinforcement is what most dogs respond to best.  As long as you set parameters surrounding your German Shepherd’s behavior and reward them, they easily adjust to the human race. 

Dog training needs to be loving and gentle.  Most dogs want to please their masters.  In fact, German Sheppherds are more likely to want to please their owners than some other dogs. 

All Dogs Need Mental and Physical Exercise

Because Labradors are highly intelligent, they need plenty of mental stimulation.  Physically they tend to be on the bulky and athletic side, weighing anywhere from 55-80 pounds.  So make sure your Labrador puppy training includes lots of outdoor exercise.   

Separation Anxiety

Lots of dogs when left alone for long periods of time get anxiety separation.  As much as you can, include your Lab in all clan events.

If you must leave him alone, make sure he is securely put in his crate until you come back.  At least if he’s out in the backyard he will not feel isolated from the world and he can bark happily at the passersby. 

Food for Labrador Puppy Training

Because a labs physical structure is naturally sturdy, they tend to eat a lot.  People often misunderstand the Lab’s need to eat a lot and mistake their need for nutrition as greed.  Since Labs tend to suffer from hip dysplasia more so than other dogs, it is essential that their diet contains lots of calcium. 

If you decide to make your own homemade dog recipes food you’ll need 30% meat to 70% cereal with lots of vitamins and minerals.  You might also add a 2% calcium supplement. Labs tend to suffer from worms more so than other dog.

 I’ve talked about the forum so far, now I want to talk about the actual eBook.  The print of this eBook is very easy on the eyes.  Lots of eBooks are written in Times New Roman 12, which, if you’re over 40 and need reading glasses, is a nuisance. 

The ebook starts from the very basics and then gradually moves on to the more advanced techniques.

It’s also very easy to understand, even a kid can follow the instructions!  More importantly, after Adam Katz explains a dog training technique in his eBook, he’ll give you a concrete example of how and when to apply it – step by step.

The Cons of Secrets of a Professional Dog Trainer

Okay, what would be a review without giving the good and the bad right? Well, there really isn’t anything bad about this eBook.  The only thing I found that could be different is the layout.  When you first go on the site, there’s so much great information, it’s hard to know where to start!  But that one minor point pales in comparison to the 99% positive aspects of this guide.
