A pet cover insurance policy
Pet insurance is no different to any other form of insurance in that you`ll need to look at the policy description to understand exactly what it is providing.
Some policies may offer various levels of cover whereby your benefits may vary depending upon which cover plan you`ve selected and paid for.
However, you may find that typically a policy will cover you for:
- a vets bills up to a specified level (this may not cover elective procedures such as neutering etc);
- protection against your pet dyingsafety against the costs
- of local advertising should your pet become lost;
- if you have a dog third party public liability cover;
- holiday cancellation compensation (in case you have to cancel a holiday because your pet is essentially ill);
- kennels/cattery fees if you are hospitalised for more than a specified period and therefore unable to look after your pet.
Some insurance policies may be able to offer multi-pet cover, which may be more cost-effective than having multiple individual policies.
Also note that as with any insurance product, terms and conditions, exclusions and limitations will apply and you may wish to read these carefully to ensure you understand them.
Its always better to be safe than sorry
Of course you may never need the insurance.
However, it might be a terrible position to have a loved pet that requires treatment that you simply can`t afford.
